SATs Results and League Tables

Throughout their time at Primary School children have key tests to undertake. These are tests produced by the government to see how well the children have been taught over time. If they have been taught well and cared for the results should be good.

Look at our results compared to the results of other schools nationally. I think you will agree that the results are brilliant – outstanding!

We will continue working on raising the standards in reading further. The Glapton Academy is a school you can be proud to send your children to!

Here are some sample tests for 2016 for you to have a look at:

Phonics

The children in Y1 all under took Phonics Screening in June. This tested how many words they could read from a set of 40. In 2015 93% of our children passed the screening, reading 32 or more words.

This is an amazing result.

It is higher than 2014, when 90% passed in our school and in 2013 when 83% passed.

It is higher than the National result of 74% of children passing the screening.

If your child is in Year 1 this year please talk to your child’s class teacher to find out ways in which you can help their phonics improve at home.

In 2014, more of our children than ever reached level 2b in Reading. This is the level expected for the children at the end of KS1.  A very high proportion of our children were working at a level 3. We had excellent writing and maths results as well.

These results show that we work hard to help the children in our school be the best they can be. Our children leave KS1 working at levels above the level being achieved nationally.

If your child is in Y2 this year, please talk to your child’s teacher about ways in which you can help them in reading and writing at home.

KS2 SAT Results

The children in Y6 were all assessed under test conditions in May 2014. All the children had a Reading paper, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar papers and three Maths papers. Some children took extra tests to see if they could pass the level 6 papers.

In Reading, 100 % of our children left Glapton working at a level 4 or above. This is the standard expected at the end of Y6. 59% of children demonstrated that they are working at a level 5 – 2 years ahead of expectations.

In Writing, our children did very well. Nearly all of them wrote at the level expected for a child at the end of KS2.

Over half of them were working at a level 2 years ahead of expected and 13% of them were so good at writing that they could have sat  a GCSE and got a D or above!

This year we improved the number of children working at or above the nationally expected level in SPAG. We had some very clever children sit the level 6 paper. 19% of them passed it!

The Maths results are equally good. 97% of the pupils achieved a level 4+, 63% a level 5+ and ¼ of the children a level 6.

These results are truly outstanding. Thank you and well done to all the staff and children and families who contributed to these great results.
